CHRISTO + JEANNE CLAUDE. THE INTERVENTION OF BUILDINGS ON A NATURAL SCALE
27-28 February 2021
We dedicate this session of the Mies é Máis cycle to the couple of environmental artists Christo and Jeanne Claude.
The most important characteristics of their works are the scale, the textile material, and the place where they make their proposals. Through their large-scale interventions in urban spaces and / or natural landscapes, they completely modify the perception of the intervened space.
The didactics is divided into two proposals, which the couple of artists develop throughout their entire artistic career. On the one hand, a proposal for an Object Wrapped with cloth and rope, accentuating its proportions and geometry, thus revealing its essence. On the other hand, we will focus on the construction of a Mastaba with cylindrical elements, like the oil barrels they used in this type of work.
